#e17 Balance of mind and body

The Need for a Fasting of the Mind: A Spiritual Detox

When we are always saturated with the warmth of people and the bonds we share with others, we seem to lose our sense of gratitude.
In other words, our hearts also become saturated.

As the saying goes, “Hunger is the best spice,” and I think it is important to empty our minds from time to time, as in “fasting.

Fasting exists as a ritual in all religions and cultures.
It is likely that ancient peoples knew that not taking in solid food into the body had the effect of resetting and improving the body’s natural healing ability and eliminating toxins.
At the same time, it must have had the effect of reminding them of the joy of eating.

If we assume that the aforementioned effect of returning gratitude to a mind that is saturated with diminishing appreciation is a revival of the mind, let’s say that we had time to think calmly by severing relations with others.
If this allowed you to become aware of relationships that need to be sorted out, then this could be called a “detoxification of the mind” that releases toxins.
Many relationships are unintentionally becoming difficult to turn down.
And I think we all have the experience of becoming exhausted without even knowing it.
That is why this mental detox is necessary from time to time.

There are many other ways to fast the mind.
Going on a solo trip, reading a book, running or climbing a mountain are all good options.
I think it is very important to have some alone time.
Meditation and other activities are also a great way to reset the mind.
Doing these “fasts of the mind” on a regular basis will cleanse the mind.

I have found that by traveling for more than two months, I am able to be very kind to my family when I return home.
I guess this was one of the ways of “fasting of the mind.

Daily Meditations

Zen, yoga, the Dreamtime, and other rituals that are very similar to each civilization exist.
Humans, with their large brains, probably made them very important habits.
All of these are the art of pulling away from the mind and instinct.
Skills to make the mind neutral.

Up Set, the mind and instincts become closer and finally assimilated.
When you go to the extreme, you become animalized or or like a virus that harms people.
In short, you can either antagonize or assimilate, or you can only give extreme answers.

I think it is wiser in the long run for us to cooperate and seek a better path than a zero-sum choice.

I think the purpose of meditation is a way to get a bird’s eye view of our own minds so that our thoughts are not biased or our minds are not exhausted.

A simple example of meditation.

  1. Do something new.
  2. Getting in touch with nature.
(Just getting in touch with nature is a great meditation.)
  3. The aforementioned “fasting of the mind”.

Meditation is a skill, so just as you cannot suddenly play a musical instrument, you may not see the effects immediately.
It is because it is hard to know what effect you will feel.
However, as you accumulate the practice, you will be able to feel the release from anxiety. Wind and rain are your friends.

Moreover, there are stages, and with experience comes skill and efficiency improves.

Therefore, I think it is important to find your own way to do yoga and meditation without doubts.
Gradually, you will find several new methods that suit you.
