Work, Business, and Jobs
I believe there are three types of work.
I am writing here only as my personal view.
1.Work
This work is literally “work”.
Work is “serving some event.
Then, “serve what?”
It is your own personal “thing,” which I want you to think of as a kind of sanctuary.
The true “work” is to have something that you truly admire and love, and to nurture and utilize your gifts (talents) for the benefit of others in the future.
There is a word “life work.
It is an activity that one continues to do throughout one’s life, regardless of whether or not one has an income.
The word “work” is similar to the word “walk.
I define “work” as activities that are like “walking” in a natural way.
Work: Defined as an activity that serves one’s own inner calling.
It is based on an individual’s passion and sense of mission, and the inner satisfaction gained in the process is paramount.
Work is positioned as a process of self-realization and as having value beyond economic rewards.
2.BUSINESS
Business is busy and ness (itself).
In other words, it means activity like a waterwheel.
When the economy is in flux, it will not go bankrupt.
Any large company will go bankrupt or go out of business when its cash flow stagnates.
Business is an activity for a person to effectively manage or increase his or her own physical assets.
To some extent, it does not matter what one likes or dislikes, as long as one can afford the assets, one can live a secure life.
Here, the goal is to achieve financial independence and stability through the efficient management of physical assets and skills owned by individuals.
Efficient business serves as the foundation for personal independence.
3.Job.
An activity that uses one’s time and skills to earn an income each and every time.
Job is an activity to earn the money needed to live.
So, with the exception of a few very wealthy people, most people will engage in this job.
For example, the McJob (working at McDonald’s), which is considered the representative of low wages, and being a lawyer are the same job.
The only difference between them is their hourly wage efficiency.
Therefore, they are the same in terms of jobs.
Job: Labor activity necessary to earn a living.
The emphasis here is on earning a living by “selling” one’s time or skills, and most workers, regardless of their social status or income, are basically in this category.
This view provides important insight into understanding the role each activity plays in an individual’s life and career.
By distinguishing between work, business, and job, individuals may be able to better define the direction in which they are headed and deepen their journey toward self-actualization through each activity.
Understanding these concepts will also provide a foundation for expanding one’s options in one’s career and leading a more fulfilling life.
Difference in Consciousness
So what is the difference between job and work?
I believe it is the difference in consciousness.
If a person working at McDonald’s has a goal of opening a hamburger store in the future, it is just a job, but it includes an element of work.
Because, even if it’s the same work, you can say, “This is how I would do it.” Or, “This part is useless.” or “This part is good.” etc,
In short, I can work on each task with a high level of awareness.
Also, the work of lawyers, which is considered sublime and not at all like a McJob, is no different from a part-time job if one is simply engaged in a stream of work.
Transitioning from Job to Work
Many people begin their careers with a job, but as an individual grows and goes through the process, the job may gradually change to work.
This transition is closely related to a change in the individual’s attitude toward work and a deeper understanding of their own passions and goals.
Do not choose a job simply because it pays more per hour or offers better benefits, so that you can eventually find your own work.
I believe that the fastest way to find a job is to work at a related job that you like and to do so with a high level of awareness.
If you absorb every job with the mindset of learning from it, you will improve quickly and make unexpected discoveries.
Thinking from a long-term perspective, I think it would be good if you have found your own work by the time you are about 60 years old.
